Brian McElhiney - bagpiper
Born and raised in Akron, Ohio (to a family with Scottish-Irish ancestry), I first became interested in the bagpipes when I heard the Akron & District Pipe Band play at a local fair in 1995. I was instantly hooked and immediately decided that I was going to be a piper.
Today, I’m still playing with the band as well as performing solo at various events throughout the year.
Along with gaining valuable experience from playing in the band, I was also awarded their scholarship to attend the Ohio Scottish Arts School for Bagpiping. It was there that I received top-notch instruction from some of North America’s best pipers (Jake Watson, Reay Mackay, Iain Macey, etc…). The skills I developed at the school have helped me to becoming a solid and confident performer.
In 2005, I married my bride, Julie, in a wedding filled with Celtic traditions. She was led down the aisle by a piper and it was the happiest moment of my life.
I look forward to working with you and making your event a special and unique experience for everybody involved.
Cheers,
